KINGPIN GPU — The renowned overclocker Vince KINGPIN Lucido is reportedly about to make a return to the extreme GPU overclocking scene by partnering with PNY. Previously, Vince has been partnering up with EVGA developing its KINGPIN exclusive GPU for more than a decade until the business decided to scale down almost a year ago.
We have covered the topic of whether is EVGA going out of business in this article if you wish to learn about how it unfolded.
Kingpin making a return
A recent Gamers Nexus interview at Computex 2024 revealed that Vince is currently in the process of signing up a contract with PNY to develop a high-end enthusiast GPU design for next-gen where it aims to push the board into its limit. He told Steve that this would be his first time in a decade working on a GPU that is not sourced from EVGA.
He also revealed that he has been in contact with several other vendors like MSI, Galax or even ASUS however his choice eventually falls to PNY. He told GN PNY is likely to be a perfect candidate as other brands already have “too many cooks in the kitchen” and it just so happens that PNY puts quite an interest to fill the market that EVGA currently left open.
Bottom line
Vince Lucido, also famously known as KINGPIN, has decided to partner up with PNY to create PNY KINGPIN exclusive enthusiast next-generation GPU assuming everything goes to plan. He expressed his enthusiasm for the project as so far PNY has been quite positive on the discussion.
Is EVGA dead has become quite a topic last year with the company heavily scaling down its business; axing down plenty of its projects including its GPU department leaving the market for extremely high-end enthusiast GPUs to be up and open in the market. After a year, PNY seems to show an interest in tapping into what EVGA left behind.
