Xbox Game Pass Standard — Microsoft is planning to increase Xbox subscription for its Ultimate plan yet again in September; while at the same time also introducing a “Standard” plan. The price increase is planned to be $19.99 from the current price of $16.99.
In addition, the Xbox PC game pass will also receive a price increase from $9.99 per month to $11.99; a $1 lesser increase from the Ultimate plan. The price hike also applies to all regions effective in September which Microsoft has documented here.
For Australia, the new Xbox game pass price will be $22.95 from the current $18.95; which is a $4 increase. As for the PC game pass, it will receive a $3 increase from currently $10.95 to $13.95.
We have also observed that this increase comes close to various highly anticipated titles such as Call of Duty Black Ops 6, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 where the titles will become available to play for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers
Now the “good” news is, that Microsoft also offers a new Xbox Game Pass Standard plan which has more or less the same benefits as the Ultimate counterpart but without day-one benefits Microsoft announced that the Standard subscription will cost $14.99 USD and “will be available in the coming months.”
Bottom line
Microsoft Game Pass will have a global price increase for both the Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscription plans by September. The price hike for the Australia region is about $4 for ultimate and $3 for PC.
On the same occasion, Microsoft also introduced a new Standard subscription plan with the same benefit as Ultimate without day-one access to new titles. The plan will cost $14.99 USD per month.
